As many of you know, the Bard family is large and comprised of many people – one such member is Terence Strachan (pen name T.G. Barker), a night watchman at Bard and a very talented cartoonist.

Terence has been wokring at Bard since 2002 and since 2004, he has been creating a comic series entitled ‘Guard on the Beach’.

Patron: “Well it’s so nice hearing Christopher’s voice that I don’t even mind getting your voicemail!”

Patron: “This is for my lady. Well one of them… you know what I mean.”

We’re delighted to have Dr. Nicholas Harrison return to Bard on the Beach for his 16th season as our Fight Director. As a young boy, Nic saw a little movie called Star Wars, an event that would change the rest of his life. Vancouver is often described as one of the most beautiful and liveable cities in the world. One of the easiest and best ways to take in the views of this fantastic city is by bike (and we’re proud to say that almost all of our actors bike to Bard!) The journey to Bard on the Beach along the seawall is a great way to take in some spontaneous events while travelling at your own pace.

On Friday afternoon a large brown bear was spotted in the downtown region of Vancouver, British Columbia near West Hastings and Abbott streets. Sydney Cavanagh, who was first to notice the large animal, said “I was just sewing and when I looked up there it was. I was shocked.” Cavanagh stayed still and spoke calmly to the bear so as not to alarm it. Brown bears can be very dangerous and should not be approached but after some time Cavanagh said that the bear started to show canine-type loyalty and after a few hours wouldn’t leave her side.
