How often do you get the chance to purchase a rare bottle of Armagnac that not only allows you to have a taste of history, but helps support a vibrant, modern theatre experience?

This year, we have the pleasure of announcing that a rare bottle of Comte De Lauvia “The 1934” Armagnac was donated to the Vancouver International Wine Festival by a long time Bard supporter from the Vancouver business community. It will be offered as part of the silent auction at the Bacchanalia Gala Dinner + Auction on February 11, the premier wining and dining event of the Wine Festival’s program.

Armagnac is a world-famous type of brandy produced exclusively in the Gascony region of south-west France. This rare vintage is distilled from ‘old-vine’ Baco grapes, and was bottled after 70 years of aging in single oak barrels. Only 90 bottles were made available to North America when it was released in 2010 to commemorate Armagnac’s 700th anniversary. The opportunity to bid on this bottle is as rare as the reserve itself.

We are so fortunate to be benefitting from this donation. Since September 2012, Bard on the Beach has been a charitable beneficiary of the Wine Festival, one of the biggest, best and oldest wine events in the world. Over the past three years we’ve been a part of an invaluable partnership that has raised more than $580,000 for Bard. That’s a lot of love for wine and Shakespeare!

We thank the friends of Bard and the wine lovers who support the Wine Festival, thus contributing to the preservation of performing arts in Vancouver!

The 2017 Vancouver International Wine Festival is celebrating its 39th year and runs from February 11-19.
