Bard on the Beach celebrates the return of Bard-B-Q & Fireworks
JULY 5, 2022, VANCOUVER, B.C. – Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival’s 33rd Season continues in Sen̓ákw/Vanier Park with special events throughout the month of July, highlighted by its signature Bard-B-Q & Fireworks nights. Other special events in July include the all-ages Family Day & Relaxed Performance on July 17 and a Bard Explored forum on July 9.
“We are thrilled to welcome back our audiences to Sen̓ákw/Vanier Park and to once again offer our unique Bard-B-Q & Fireworks event,” said Christopher Gaze, Bard on the Beach Artistic Director. “For all three Celebration of Light nights, we give audiences the opportunity to see our fantastical production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, followed by a delicious meal prepared by Emelle’s Catering. A post-dinner highlight will be a performance by the Coastal Wolf Pack, all leading up to the close-up view of the fireworks display from an enclosed private seating area.”
Regular performances of Shakespeare’s comic masterpiece A Midsummer Night’s Dream continue throughout July and until September 24. The Governor-General’s Award-winning drama Harlem Duet, a powerful story about passion and betrayal with links to Shakespeare’s Othello, continues until July 17.
Special Events for July, 2022 are:
- Bard-B-Q & Fireworks – July 23, July 27 & July 30 at 5pm – See A Midsummer Night’s Dream, then enjoy a delicious meal from Emelle’s Catering, plus pre-Fireworks entertainment. End the night with a private view of the spectacular Celebration of Light fireworks; this all-inclusive package offers outstanding Fireworks-event value. All-inclusive ticket prices start at $99. - Family Days / Relaxed Performances – Sundays, July 17 & August 14 at 2pm – enjoy a special performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream featuring an open attitude towards audience members moving, making noise, and exiting/entering the auditorium freely. Age restrictions are also relaxed. The perfect Bard experience for families and groups. Family-package ticket pricing available.
- Bard Explored – July 9 & August 13 at 11am – Simon Fraser University’s Paul Budra leads lively explorations of the Season’s plays (July 9-Dream; August 13-Romeo and Juliet).
