Exciting news on the casting front!

We’re thrilled to announce that Bob Frazer will be back on the Studio Stage at Bard for our 25th Anniversary season in 2014. 

After taking a year away from Bard while he pursued other projects (including his recent work as Jay Gatsby in Theatre Calgary’s The Great Gatsby,  Bob will appear in next season’s productions of Bill Cain’s Equivocation and Shakespeare’s Cymbeline.

As many of you know, the Bard family is large and comprised of many people – one such member is Terence Strachan (pen name T.G. Barker), a night watchman at Bard and a very talented cartoonist.

Terence has been wokring at Bard since 2002 and since 2004, he has been creating a comic series entitled ‘Guard on the Beach’.

“Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
the Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I see no reason why Gunpowder Treason should ever be forgot.”

It’s common knowledge that during Shakespeare’s life, his plays were performed by a cast made up solely of men.

Auditioning at Bard is unlike other theatre companies: there’s a lot of scheduling and cooperation involved because of our having two repertory companies, Mainstage and Studio Stage, and the fact that actors need to fit two roles. 

The process begins nearly a year in advance of the upcoming season – Bard’s general audition notice goes out in June and general auditions are held in July. We receive resumes year-round and these are kept on file until the creative team is ready to go through them.
