Our mission at Bard is to present affordable, accessible Shakespearean productions of the finest quality. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the magic of theatre at our Festival and we support that goal through our Community Access Ticket Program. Our Program partners with local organizations to provide complimentary tickets to a wide range of people who might otherwise face barriers to attending our Festival.

During our 2019 season, we donated over 500 tickets to 27 different organizations in and around Vancouver, including Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS), The Kettle Society, Disability Alliance BC, Indigenous Roots Youth Group, Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC, West End Seniors’ Network, PALS Autism School, the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre and many more.

Here’s what they had to say about their experience:

A huge thank you for the tickets for Shakespeare in Love. The women had a wonderful time and could not stop talking about the show. For many of them it was their first live theatre experience in years, if ever. They were so delighted by the costumes, the performances, the music, and the whole experience.” – Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre

What an awesome gift you’ve given our clients! It was exactly the respite they needed in their struggle battling with chronic medical conditions, poverty and homelessness. Thank you!” – Advocate, Disability Alliance BC

I hope the Bard on the Beach company and volunteers know how much it means to me to attend a professional theatre performance. It is something that is beyond my financial means. The volunteer staff were friendly and went out of their way to make me feel welcome.” –  Member, Kettle Society

A big thank you for the tickets for our Youth to go to Bard on the Beach. This was the first live theatre event any of them had been to and they absolutely loved it. The whole evening was well received and the Youth are now looking at live theatre in a whole new light.” – Lee, Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC

We would like to thank our Community Access Ticket Sponsors – Vancouver International Airport and the Seedlings Foundation. Without their support this program would not be possible!  If you’re interested in supporting or benefiting from our Program in 2020, email [email protected]
