How to Get to the Site
By Transit:
The closest bus line is the 002 – Macdonald / Downtown.
If you’re taking the westbound line to Macdonald:
· The closest bus stop is Cornwall Ave @ Cypress Street (stop #50101).
· Cross the street toward the Starbucks.
If you’re taking the eastbound line to Downtown:
· The closest bus stop is Cornwall Ave @ Cypress Street (stop #50072).
· Cross the intersection at Cypress Street, so that you are on the same side as the Starbucks and Triple O’s.
Once you are on Cornwall Avenue, travel eastbound past the Triple O’s and towards Chestnut Street.
When you reach Chestnut Street, cross the street and turn left.
Continue down Chestnut Street.
Turn right onto Whyte Avenue at the Vanier Park sign.
You’ll know you’re almost at the Festival Site when you see the Bard on the Beach sandwich board!
Continue down Whyte Avenue past the curve in the road.
Once you pass the Vancouver Archives parking lot, you’ll see our Bard on the Beach arch and our famous red and white tents on the left!

By Bike:
The site is conveniently located along the seaside bike route close to the Cypress Bikeway and Burrard Bridge. There is a Mobi bike station next to the site entrance.
Enclosed bike parking is available – bring your own lock.
Parking
There are several pay parking lots adjacent to the site that are operated by EasyPark. There is no parking in the neighbouring residential area.
The main parking lot is at the Museum of Vancouver & H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, just off Whyte Avenue.
The address for the parking lot is 1100 Chestnut Street, Vancouver, BC. If you see the Bard on the Beach logo on the sign at the entrance, you’re at the right place!
There are also two more smaller parking lots further down Whyte Avenue.
If you continue down Whyte Avenue, there is a gravel parking lot on your right.
Across from the gravel parking lot, on the left side of Whyte Avenue, is the Vancouver Archives parking lot. This lot is for accessible parking only.
Note that there is a hill bump as you arrive to our site.
At the Site
When you arrive at the site, you will see our Box Office and the entrance to our Bard Village.
The Village opens one hour before each performance.
If you chose to pick up your tickets at Will Call, you can give your name to one of the Box Office Attendants. They will help you find your tickets.
You can pick up your tickets starting one hour before the performance. We recommend picking up your tickets no later than 30 minutes before your show.
If you chose to print your tickets at home or have your tickets as a PDF, you can go directly to the entrance. A volunteer will scan your ticket before you enter.
At the Festival site, you may meet some of our Bard on the Beach volunteers.
Our volunteers help with many things, including scanning tickets, handing out programs, helping you find your seats, and much more!
We love our volunteers, and we wouldn’t be able to run our Festival without them.
If you have any questions while you’re at the Site, you can always ask one of our volunteers for help.
The Bard Village
There are many different areas in the Bard Village. You can learn more about them in this section.
Audience Services:
The Audience Services desk will be on your right when you walk in. They can help you with any questions you might have during your visit.
Audience Services can also help you if you need ear defenders or an assistive listening system.

Bard Boutique:
Our Bard Boutique sells Bard-themed merchandise, including clothing, books and other fun gifts!
Bard Education:
This is our Bard Education area, where we host our In a Nutshell talks. In a Nutshell talks are free pre-show talks that give short, informal introductions to the plays’ stories and characters.
Concession:
The Village has two concession areas – one for snacks and cold drinks, and the other for hot drinks and coffee.
You can bring your food and drinks from the concession into the theatre, but try to save your snacks for intermission!
Washrooms:
Our toilets are just off of the main Village. There are accessible walkways that lead to the washrooms.
Our washrooms have individual red porta-potties, as well as hand sanitizer and hand wash stations. There are accessible porta-potties, which are grey instead of red, and an accessible hand wash station.
Theatres:
There are two theatre tents at the Bard Festival Site.
If you are seeing As You Like It or Julius Caesar, you will be at the BMO Mainstage.
If you are seeing Henry V or Goblin:Macbeth, you will be at the Howard Family Stage.
Show Time!
About half an hour before the performance, the house will open to the audience. When this happens, you can go in and find your seat.
Five minutes before the performance, a staff member or volunteer in the Village will ring a bell so you know the show is about to begin. If you haven’t already, start making your way to your seats. Enjoy the show!
