Classroom Workshops

Bring Shakespeare’s words to life and into the lives of your students with Bard Education. Active, engaging, and energetic, Bard in the Classroom gives students first-hand experience in the art of playing Shakespeare.

And teachers, for your own first-hand experience of playing Shakespeare in the classroom click here for Bard in the Classroom: Professional Development for School Teachers.

To book a Shakespeare: In Action workshop please fill in this form.

After submitting your request, our School Programs Assistant will get in touch to confirm your booking. If you have any questions, please contact workshops@bardonthebeach.org.

Requests for the 2019-2020 school year must be received by April 15. Beyond that, we may not be able to respond. Please note: demand for Bard in the Classroom bookings is highest in the late spring, when the actors are in rehearsal for our Festival, so we may not be able to fulfill all requests.

Shakespeare: In Action

The ideal way to support your Shakespeare unit, these workshops give students the chance to play Shakespeare with our professional teaching artists through the use of voice, movement, and acting exercises. Workshops can focus on the story, the imagery or the language (or a combination of all three) in a particular play, or provide a general introduction to Shakespeare. They can be up to 90 minutes long.

When do these workshops take place?

Our Shakespeare: In Action workshops are available year-round. Please submit your workshop request at least 3 weeks in advance of the date you’re hoping to host the workshop. The earlier you submit your request, the more likely it is that we’ll be able to fulfill it.

How many students can participate?

  • Up to 30 students per workshop
  • $220 per workshop + travel or $580 for three workshops

“This program is an absolute must! I saw children come out of their shells and excel in ways I never dreamed possible. The instructor was so skilled in both motivating and guiding the children through this amazing opportunity.” Teacher, Brooksbank Elementary
