Bard’s tents may be down for the season, but you don’t need to go without your Shakespeare fix. The National Theatre of Great Britain has come up with a great series called National Theatre Live, now in its fourth season, which gives theatre fans all over the world a chance to take in its fantastic productions through film at movie theatres. This week (with an encore presentation October 12), the series offers Shakespeare’s Othello, the passionate tragedy of racism, jealousy and betrayal, at several movie theatres in the Lower Mainland.

In this new production, Olivier Award-winning actor Adrian Lester (Henry V at the National Theatre, BBC-TV’s Hustle) takes the title role. Playing opposite him as Iago is fellow Olivier Award-winner Rory Kinnear (The Last of the Haussmans; Skyfall), who is reunited here with director Nicholas Hytner (Timon of Athens; One Man, Two Guvnors) following their acclaimed collaboration on the National Theatre’s recent production of Hamlet.

It’s wise to get your tickets soon as these presentations sell out!
