Milana Christie is the winner of a commuter bike from West Point Cycles! During our Bard-B-Q & Fireworks evenings, patrons were given the opportunity to enter for a chance to win a brand new bike – and it could not have gone to a more deserving woman.
Milana was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer last year and after a year of treatment she is committed to enjoying a more active and healthy life. When she attended The Taming of the Shrew, her friend Denise Johnson convinced her that she had to enter the contest. Not having ridden a bike since she was a teenager, Milana was nervous about the prospect of riding again but she was game – and she won.
A school principal at Simon Fraser Elementary (currently on leave) Milana has said her co-workers and school have helped her through this difficult time. They have become her family members and a source of support for her. Milana’s colleague Tony, an experienced bicyclist, was on hand along with the staff at Westpoint cycles to help her choose the perfect bike that fits her lifestyle. Milana plans to use her new bike to travel to work and enjoy the seawall.
Congratulations Milana – a truly amazing and inspiring woman.
