With a heavy heart, we have cancelled our Festival’s 31st Season. Please visit our 2020 Season Cancellation page for our full announcement.

For our 2020 ticket holders and Season/Flex Pack-holders, please choose from one of the following options for honouring the value of your purchase.

CONVERT YOUR 2020 SEASON AND FLEX PACKS INTO 2021 SEASON AND FLEX PACK

Convert your 2020 Flex or Season Packs into Flex or Season Packs for our 2021 Season. This is a great way to save, if you plan to attend the Festival next summer – as you’ll have paid 2020 prices even though 2021 prices may rise!

If you’d like to convert your Pack(s), please select this option on the form below.

Any questions about this option? Please see our FAQ section below,

CONVERT YOUR 2020 TICKETS/PACKS INTO A GIFT CERTIFICATE FOR THE 2021 SEASON

Receive a 2021 gift certificate for the full value of your tickets or Flex/Season Packs purchase, valid for tickets or Packs. All 2021 prices are subject to change; please note that your gift certificate does not allow you to buy 2021 tickets at expired 2020 prices and that it expires at the end of the 2021 Season.

If you’d like to receive a gift certificate for the 2021 Season, please select this option on the form below.

Any questions about this option? Please see our FAQ section below.

DONATE THE VALUE OF YOUR TICKETS/SEASON PACK(S)/FLEX PACK(S)

If you do not wish to attend the Festival in 2021, please consider donating the full value or a portion of the value of your tickets/Packs to the Bard on the Beach Theatre Society. As a non-profit organization, we are immensely grateful for your generous support; it will help us safeguard the financial health and artistic vibrancy of the Festival as we work towards better days ahead. You will receive a 2020 tax receipt for your donation (minimum $25) by October.

If you would like to donate, please select this option on the form below. Thank you in advance!

2020 Season Ticket and Pack Conversions and Cancellations
The order ID can be found on your order confirmation email, or on the Flex/Season Pack vouchers.

Where can I find my order ID?

Your order ID can be found on your vouchers/tickets or your confirmation email, beginning with either 19- or 20- and followed by a series of letters and numbers. If you do not have your vouchers/tickets or your confirmation email, please leave the order ID field blank as we should be able to find your order ID from your name and email address.

I can’t find my order ID or my confirmation email; how do I submit my request?

If you cannot locate the order ID of your vouchers/tickets, please leave the order ID field blank. We should be able to locate your order using your name and email address, but it is much quicker for us if you include the order ID in your form.

Can I convert my 2020 tickets for 2021 tickets?

No – we can only convert Season or Flex Packs to 2021 Season or Flex Packs. If you purchased single tickets, we can only convert your tickets into a gift certificate for the 2021 season.

What if I ask you to switch my 2020 tickets to 2021 tickets later in the year, or early next year, rather than get a gift certificate for them? Is there a chance that could happen later?

Due to the limitations of our system and our Festival model, we are not able to directly switch tickets for the 2020 season into tickets for the 2021 season at any time. We are happy to offer a gift certificate for the 2021 season, a tax-deductible donation (minimum $25) or a refund instead.

Can I convert my 2020 tickets into a 2021 Season/Flex Pack?

No – we can only convert Season and Flex Packs into 2021 Season and Flex Packs. If you purchased single tickets, we can only convert your tickets into a gift certificate for the 2021 season. Your other options are to donate the tickets, for which we will issue you a tax receipt (minimum $25), or to request a refund.

Will my Exploring Shakespeare/Wine Wednesday tickets be converted?

No – we are only able to convert Packs to the 2021 season. Instead, single tickets can be turned into gift certificates for the same value, donated for a tax receipt if $25 or more, or refunded.

Why can’t I turn my VSO tickets into a 2021 Flex Pack?

As stated on the Flex Pack terms and conditions, the VSO performance is a Special Event that is excluded from Flex Pack redemption. For this reason, we are not able to convert VSO tickets into 2021 Flex Packs. Instead, we are happy to offer you a gift certificate for the 2021 season, a chance to donate the tickets for a tax receipt (minimum $25), or a refund.

I used my Flex/Season Pack toward the Fireworks ticket; how come I can’t get it back as a Flex/Season Pack?

Our Flex and Season Packs do not accurately convert to Fireworks tickets – instead, the value of your Flex/Season Pack voucher was used toward the price of a Fireworks ticket. This means that your Flex/Season Pack voucher was a prepayment toward the cost of a Fireworks ticket. As stated in our Flex and Season Pack terms and conditions, they are not valid for the Bard-B-Q and Fireworks event tickets, so we are unable to transfer the Fireworks tickets into Flex/Season Pack vouchers. Instead, you can receive a 2021 gift certificate for the value, donate your tickets and receive a tax receipt (minimum $25), or receive a refund.

If I have used my Flex Pack on Opera & Arias tickets; can I convert them to a 2021 Flex Pack?

Yes – while Opera & Arias is a Special Event, Flex Packs can be redeemed for Opera & Arias tickets, as stated on the terms and conditions. You can convert your Opera & Arias tickets into a 2021 Flex Pack if you used your 2020 Flex Pack for them. We are not able to convert Opera & Arias tickets into Season Packs, and single ticket purchases of Opera & Arias performances cannot be converted into a Flex Pack.

If I have redeemed some of my vouchers for tickets, can you still convert my Pack to the 2021 season?

Yes – if you have requested to have your Flex or Season Pack converted to the 2021 season, we will convert all vouchers, including those that have been redeemed.

Should I convert my Pack or should I donate it and buy a new Pack in the Fall?

We recommend that you convert your Pack instead of donating it because you will be saving the most money off of a regular ticket in 2021; our 2021 Pack prices will be higher than what you paid originally. We also expect a lower inventory of Packs for next year based on the number of patrons who have requested to convert their Packs to 2021. If you wish to donate, we recommend donating in addition to converting your Pack.

How will I receive my new Packs? Will they be emailed to me?

We cannot email Packs. Instead, your 2021 Packs will be mailed to you, along with an information sheet on redemption and including terms and conditions.

By converting my Packs to 2021, will I still receive advance booking access in 2021?

Yes – we will honour the advance booking access given to Flex and Season Pack holders, as well as our higher-level Members. You will receive further details of your advance booking date with your Pack in the mail, including the terms and conditions.

What should I do with my 2020 vouchers? Should I mail them to you? Can I use them for the 2021 season once you’ve processed my conversion?

Please destroy your 2020 vouchers once you have received confirmation of your Pack conversion to 2021. Those vouchers are no longer valid and will not be honoured next season. Instead, you will receive new vouchers in the mail.

I received a Pack as a gift. Can I convert them or does the original purchaser have to convert them?

We prefer that the person who has received the Packs as a gift choose what they would like to do with them. Please indicate on the form if you have received the Packs as a gift. Please note: We can only issue tax receipts and refunds to the original purchaser.

I received a Pack as a gift, so the order ID is not linked to my account. Can you put the converted 2021 Pack on my personal account?

No – we are only able to convert the Pack in the same account that it is linked to. However, we can mail the 2021 Pack to you. Please include in the notes section of your request form that you received the Pack as a gift and your mailing address.

I bought my Season Pack with the split payment option. Can you convert half of it and refund the rest to me?

No – we can only convert the entirety of the Pack.

What is the difference between a gift certificate and converting my 2020 Pack into a 2021 Pack?

gift certificate allows you to retain the dollar value of your 2020 purchase and can be used toward a purchase of 2021 tickets, Packs, and Education programs. You can also easily gift it to a family member or friend! As prices may rise in 2021, note that your gift certificate may not cover the full cost of your 2021 ticket or Pack purchase. Your gift certificate expires at the end of the 2021 Festival.

Converting to a 2021 Pack means you receive a Season or Flex Pack for the 2021 Festival at the same price that you paid for your 2020 Pack. This is a good idea if you know you want to attend the 2021 Festival in the same manner as you planned for the 2020 Festival – it will give you the best savings off next year’s ticket prices!

I bought a gift certificate for someone. Can I submit the request form or does the person I gave the gift certificate have to do it?

We prefer that the person who has received the gift certificate as a gift choose what they would like to do with them. Please indicate on the form if you have received the gift certificate as a gift. Please note: We can only issue tax receipts and refunds to the original purchaser.

How do I receive my gift certificate?

You will receive your gift certificate via email as soon as your request has been processed.

Why does my gift certificate have an expiry date?

All Bard on the Beach gift certificates have expiry dates, which is always the last day of that year’s Festival. However, the gift certificate you receive this year will be valid until the last day of the 2021 Festival and must be used by that date.

Why am I being offered the option to donate the value of my purchase to Bard on the Beach?

Our Festival is a non-profit organization and registered charity. We operate primarily because of the generous contributions we receive from our patrons and Members; that support allows us to mount the Festival annually and pay our year-round and seasonal staff, Acting Company, suppliers, service providers and more. Without donations and ticket revenue, the continued operation of our Festival will be seriously threatened. If you choose to donate, you will receive a 2020 tax receipt in the amount you have donated (minimum $25) by OctoberWe thank you in advance for considering a donation at this time – your support is invaluable!

Do I receive a tax receipt for this donation? Is my donation tax deductible?

As a registered charity and non-profit organization, we issue tax receipts for any donation of $25 or more to the name used on the payment method. We cannot issue tax receipts for any donations less than $25. Your tax receipt will be mailed to you in October.

Can I use the tax receipt from this donation for my tax return this year? I paid for my Pack in 2019.

No – tax receipts can only be used for the tax year in which the donation was made. Therefore, a donation made in 2020, regardless of the year the original payment was made, must be used for your 2020 tax return. This is in accordance with the rules and regulation set by Canada Revenue Agency.

I donated my tickets/Packs, but haven’t received my tax receipt yet – why?

Thank you for your donation! If you have donated $25 or more, you will receive a tax receipt from Bard on the Beach Theatre Society. Due to the limitations of our system, your tax receipt must be mailed to you via Canada Post, so please expect a slower delivery time than normal. We currently do not have the ability to send tax receipts via email. You will receive your tax receipt before the 2020 tax filing period next spring. Donations of less than $25 are not eligible for tax receipts.

I split the cost of the Packs with my friend. Is it possible to get a tax receipt for each of us?

No – tax receipts can only be issued to the person whose payment method was used to purchase the Packs/tickets, in accordance with the rules and regulations set by the Canada Revenue Agency.

I bought this Pack as a gift for someone. They would like to donate it. Can you issue the tax receipt in the name of the gift recipient?

No – tax receipts can only be issued to the person whose payment method was used to purchase the Packs/tickets, in accordance with the rules and regulations set by the Canada Revenue Agency.

Can you please make this donation in recognition/memory of someone?

Ticket/Pack donations do not receive public recognition unless they are through our Membership program. We can note the recognition internally, but it will not appear in our future house program.

I would like to make a donation in addition to converting my Pack. How can I do so?

Thank you for your support! Please visit bardonthebeach.org/donations to donate or click the ‘Donate’ button in the top right-hand side of our website. We only accept Visa and MasterCard online. You can also mail a cheque to our administration offices; address it to Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival, 201-162 West 1st Avenue, Vancouver, BC V5Y 0H6.

I would like to renew my annual Membership. What is the best way to do so?

Please visit bardonthebeach.org/donations to donate or click the ‘Donate’ button in the top right-hand side of our website. We only accept Visa and MasterCard online. You can also mail a cheque to our administration offices in Olympic Village; see the address above.

Does my Pack/ticket donation make me a Member? Can I combine this donation with a second donation in order to renew my annual Membership? Can I combine this donation with a second donation in order to upgrade my annual Membership?

All donations from 2020 tickets and Packs are made to our general donations fund in order to help with operating costs rather than our Membership program. Please contact Alva Tang, Bard’s Annual Giving and Events Officer, to discuss your situation.

I became a Member this year. Will my Membership and its benefits carry over to next season?

All Memberships and accompanying benefits are valid for 365 days from the date of donation. Our Development team is currently working on a virtual benefits plan for this summer, and we look forward to announcing it to you! Please sign up for our Bard E-News to receive our updates. Members at the Much Ado level and higher will still receive advance booking access for the 2021 Season as long as their Memberships are active.

The credit card that I used to purchase the Packs/tickets has expired/been cancelled. If I give you my new credit card number, can I receive my refund on my new card?

We are only able to refund payment back to the credit card used for the original purchase. If your credit card has expired or been cancelled, please make a note of this in your request form in the comments section. We will issue you a cheque refund, which will be mailed to the address on file. Please make sure your address is up to date.

You have issued my refund to a credit card that has been cancelled. How do I get my refund?

Your credit card provider will redirect the funds to your current credit card. Please check your credit card statement after a few days of receiving the refund confirmation email. If you do not see the refund on your statement after more than 5 business days, please contact your credit card provider.

I used a debit card/paid cash to purchase my tickets/Packs. How will I get my refund?

Debit and cash purchases will be refunded via cheque. Please ensure your mailing address on file is up to date in order to receive your cheque refund in a timely manner. All cheque refunds will be mailed via Canada Post.

How do I receive confirmation that my request has been processed?

Once your request has been processed, you will receive a confirmation by email.

I gifted the Packs/tickets to my friend or family member. Can you send the confirmation to them?

No – we are only able to send confirmations to the email address on file of the original purchaser.

Can you send a confirmation to me via text message or phone call?

No – we are only able to send confirmations by email to the email address on file.

Can you reschedule the Festival to the Fall, or build a smaller festival site later in the summer?

We would have loved to be able to construct something in Vanier Park – even later in the summer, should the COVID-19 risk be reduced. We looked at that option in depth before announcing the full cancellation. But given the social distancing advisories and mass-gathering restrictions currently in place, our production and artistic teams couldn’t start building and rehearsing soon enough to open in June, or even July. And to build a site – even a smaller site – later in the summer is not financially viable, as the basic costs would be so much higher than what we could earn in reduced ticket revenues that we would put the Festival’s very survival at risk. And we cannot have a presence in the Park after September, for many reasons that we cannot change.

Can you televise anything or put recordings of past productions online?

We would love to be able to stream or show past recordings of our plays from past seasons, but our recordings are not broadcast quality. Our recordings are for archival purposes, used for later reference by artistic team members, and so the recording quality is too limited to present to the public. We are also not legally allowed to broadcast them; that use is strictly prohibited by Canadian Actors Equity Association.

If the Season is cancelled, what is the status for the Education program I have signed up for?

Our Education team is determining ways they can provide program content in spite of our current challenges. Please get in touch with Katie Johnstone, Bard’s Education Coordinator, with any questions or concerns about your program.

Do you have any merchandise or any items from the Bard Boutique for purchase, for us to support your organization with a cancelled season?

We are currently investigating ways to sell items from our Bard Boutique remotely. Please sign up for our E-News to be notified when we make announcements about new and returning Bard activities this summer.

I received complimentary vouchers for 2020 tickets at a fundraising event or through a contest. What are my options?

Please email boxoffice@bardonthebeach.org with full details about the event you received the vouchers from, which organization ran the event or contest, the date the event or contest was held, and the order ID and voucher codes on each complimentary voucher.

What are the plays next season?

We are happy to announce that we are able to offer you the same plays in 2021 that you would have seen this summer: A Midsummer Night’s DreamHenry VLove’s Labour’s Lost and Paradise Lost by Erin Shields.

Will the schedule for next year be the same as this year, if you are offering the same plays? Do you have approximate dates for the 2021 season yet?

No – the schedule for the 2021 season will differ from the 2020 season schedule. We will finalize the schedule in February 2021. The approximate date range we can give you is June–September, 2021. However, we will confirm dates with all our patrons when possible. Please sign up for our E-News to receive the most up-to-date information on the 2021 Festival and our operations.

When do Packs for the 2021 season go on sale?

We currently do not have a confirmed date, but it is likely to be in the Fall. We will update all our patrons with that information as soon as we can. Please sign up for our E-News to receive the most up-to-date information on the 2021 Festival and our operations.

I converted my Packs to the 2021 season. When can I start booking tickets?

Thank you for converting! We do not currently have a specific redemption date for 2021 Packs. We can confirm that you will continue to receive advance booking accessbefore the general public, as a Pack-holder. You will be notified as soon as possible with the new redemption date for your specific Pack type.
