Young Shakespeareans Workshops
Join our troupe of Young Shakespeareans for an unforgettable theatrical adventure!
For over twenty years our Young Shakespeareans Workshops have inspired, nurtured, and encouraged the dreams of children and teens from ages eight to eighteen. Professional actors from our company help participants bring Shakespeare’s words to life through coaching in voice, movement and dialogue, and with activities designed to boost confidence and foster collaborative relationships. We want our Young Shakespeareans to gain ease with the language, passion for the text and friendships that last long beyond the workshop.
SPRING SESSION WORKSHOPS: MONDAY TO FRIDAY AT THE BMO THEATRE CENTRE, 162 WEST 1st AVE, MARCH 14-25 2016.
NEW this year, we will offer a Spring Session workshop that meets for two weeks during Spring Break in March at the BMO Theatre Centre, 162 West 1st Avenue. There will not be a specific play associated with each session; participants and teaching artists will instead explore text from a range of Shakespeare’s plays.
We are now accepting registrations for the Spring on a first-come, first-served basis. Please call 604-737-0625 ext. 243 to inquire about availability, or email email@example.com. Click here for more information and to download a Spring Session registration form.
SUMMER WORKSHOPS: MONDAY TO FRIDAY AT THE FESTIVAL SITE IN VANIER PARK
Regular summer workshops are two weeks long, Monday to Friday (including holidays), at the Festival site in Vanier Park, with a final presentation on the final Saturday or Sunday morning. The Senior Intensive workshop, for students aged 15-18, runs for one week only.
We will be using a registration draw to ensure that access to the program is as fair as possible. This should be our final year of a lottery system for YSW; in 2017, a new ticketing system will be able to accommodate first-come, first-served online registration.
The draw deadline is February 29, 2016. Forms received after the draw deadline will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability. Initial registration is limited to one workshop and one intensive (senior students only) per participant. Starting March 14, we will be able to register participants in additional workshops.
Each registration includes two complimentary passes to attend a BMO Mainstage performance (schedule below). If you would like to purchase additional tickets, please call Chantal Lyons-Stevenson at 604-737-0625 ext. 243.
