Young Shakespeareans Workshops
Join our troupe of Young Shakespeareans for an unforgettable theatrical adventure!
For over twenty years our Young Shakespeareans Workshops have inspired, nurtured, and encouraged the dreams of children and teens from ages eight to eighteen. Professional actors from our company help participants bring Shakespeare’s words to life through coaching in voice, movement and dialogue, and with activities designed to boost confidence and foster collaborative relationships. We want our Young Shakespeareans to gain ease with the language, passion for the text and friendships that last long beyond the workshop.
Beginning in 2016, we’ll offer two new Young Shakespeareans Workshops outside of our regular summer season at the BMO Theatre Centre, 162 West 1st Avenue.
We will offer a Winter Session that meets once a week, beginning in January, and a Spring Session that meets for two weeks during Spring Break in March. There will not be a specific play associated with each session; participants and teaching artists will instead explore text from a range of Shakespeare’s plays. All workshops culminate in a presentation for family and friends, and each registration includes two complimentary vouchers to a June 2016 BMO Mainstage performance at Bard on the Beach.
(Regular Summer Session workshops will still occur at Vanier Park from June to August. Watch this page for Riotous Youth information beginning in November 2015, and Summer Session information in January 2016).
We will be using a registration draw* to ensure that access to these programs is as fair as possible. To enter the draw, please download and submit a registration package for the appropriate workshop, available here for Winter Session workshops and here for Spring Session workshops. Registration packages can be scanned and emailed to email@example.com, mailed to our new offices at the BMO Theatre Centre: 201-162 West 1st Avenue, Vancouver BC, V5Y 0H6, or submitted in person at the same address. Please note, we are unable to accept registrations by telephone or fax, and registration packages must be received by the deadline in order to be considered. Packages received after the draw deadline will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability.
*Please note: we plan to use the registration draw only for Winter and Spring 2016, and hope to move to online registration on a first-come, first-served basis beginning with Summer 2016.
